Product Rationalization for a Wireless Equipment OEM

A manufacturer of high-end content capture and wireless transmission equipment had executed an inorganic growth strategy and completed a series of small acquisitions that increased their market presence and positioned them to achieve economies of scale.  They found themselves with a product line of multiple legacy SKU’s, all with separate part numbers, suppliers, and manufacturing processes, and little time to thoughtfully consolidate and reap those economies of scale. 4GM Group assisted with analysis of the product lines and developed individual plans for consolidating the many overlapping products into a single nomenclature and supply chain.  In many cases the consolidation resulted in a 4 or 6 to 1 reduction in SKU’s, which in turn drove much simplification of business processes, reduced inventory and improved cash flow.
